Mr Wainwright is back on the road

John Burland, the founder of the Wainwright Society, is back on the road this autumn with his dramatic presentation of the life and works of Alfred Wainwright. This was first presented at the Wildman Theatre at Ilkley Playhouse as part of the Ilkley Literature Festival on Thursday 15 October 2009.
John will be appearing in Addingham at a very special members evening on Thursday the 13th of November at 7.30pm. John will take us on a journey through AW’s life from his humble upbringing in Blackburn through his life-changing visit to the Lake District in 1930 and then his eventual move to Kendal in 1940 and the fifteen years spent writing the Pictorial Guides between 1952 and 1967.
Over the last five years, John has given a further thirty three presentations in a wide variety of venues and his one man show is very popular. As a result of these talks, many thousands of pounds have been raised for various cancer charities throughout the North of England and refugee & children’s charities abroad. Make sure you put this date in your diary. It will be a wonderful and very entertaining evening’s entertainment – something just a bit different.
On this occasion there will be a small charge of £3 to members and £5 to non-members.
