Our very own Society ‘Community Champions’

In recognition of their contribution to the Addingham community Richard Hunter Rowe and Alan Davies accompanied our local MP Kris Hopkins to be received by The Prime Minister, David Cameron, at 10 Downing Street. The visit was preceded by a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament and Portcullis House by Kris Hopkins. Richard was recognised for chairing the Tour Addingham 2014 Committee, which was instrumental in ensuring the great success of Le Tour de France as it passed through Addingham, and his chairing of the annual Addingham Beer Festival which has raised over £27,000 for good causes over the last four years. Richard is keen to emphasise that he was acting as a representative of both committees. Alan's recognition is for his commitment to First Responding with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and the delivery of Emergency Life Support courses to the public under the auspices of The British Heart Foundation. This has resulted in the installation and training for 14 defibrillators now located in the Addingham and Ilkley communities. The photograph is of the presentation of a personalised picture of the Tour de France, passing the Crown Addingham, taken by Allan McKenzie on behalf of SWpix.
