Minutes of the Addingham Civic Society Annual General Meeting Thursday 18th May 2017
Venue: Memorial Hall, Main Street, Addingham. 55 members in attendance.

1. Chairman’s welcome and Apologies.
Jim Robinson opened the meeting at 7.30pm.
Present: Jim Robinson (Chair), Ann Austin, Ken Birch, Brenda Crooks, Sue Hunter, Malcolm Keeble, Lynda Robinson, Richard Walton, Ian Drysdale and 55 members in attendance.
Apologies, Don Barrett, Gill Battarbee, Richard Thackray, Jan Hindle, Jonathan White
For the first time papers were sent out in advance of the AGM, with the last newsletter and members present all thought it was a good idea.

2. Minutes of AGM held on the 16th June 2016 and any matters arising.
There were no matters arising.
Minutes agreed: Proposed: Ian Drysdale , Seconded: David Austin
All in favour: Unanimous

3. Chairman’s Review of the Year
– 1 new publication released
– 1 video of the Old Sawmill released
– Environment Group has gone from strength to strength – with thanks to Rick Battarbee and his team
– culminating in the successful Environment Day.
– 2 new blue plaques – Band Ole and St Peter’s Church. 1 more to come soon – High Mill Close.
– 2 successful Fayres– Spring and Autumn. These have given a big boost to our finances – with thanks to Diana Keeble for organising.
– Village Newsletter – approx. 1800 distributed around the village in March, in conjunction with the Parish Council.
– MUGA – formally handed over to the Parish Council 1st April.
– Malcolm Keeble heads up the Planning Group to look at general planning applications in the village and responds as appropriate.
– Neighbourhood Plan progress
– Summer trip to Sizergh Castle.
– Free National Trust passes were gratefully received as a result of our association with Civic Voice.
– We awarded donations to the Christmas Market and to Addingham’s Tour de Yorkshire Group. We have committed to help the Library as and when appropriate.
– We were invited by Civic Voice to attend a meeting of large civic societies as our membership is approximately 10% of the village population.
– Ken Birch told those present of Jim Robinson’s award from the Parish Council – in recognition of exceptional community service – Jim acknowledged having received a lot of help from the Trustees. Awards were also given to Wendy Palmer, Carol Hindle and Maz Jennings.

4. Treasurers report
Audited accounts and treasurers report has been circulated. There were no questions or matters arising.
Proposal that accounts be agreed:
Proposed: Ian Aldred
Seconded: Beryl Robson

5. Nominations
Officers: No nominations had been received and the existing Officers all agreed to stand again.
Proposal that they all be re-elected:
Proposed Diana Keeble
Seconded: Pauline Birch.
Trustees: No nominations had been received other than Richard Walton, who had previously been co-opted.
All existing Trustees had agreed to stand again.
Proposal: that Richard is elected and the current Trustees re-elected:
Proposed John Fontana
Seconded: Hilary Thomas.

6. Any Other Business
It is important to cover our costs with our subscriptions and this is no longer the case. There have been no increases since 2011. They will be increased from £8 to £9 for a single member, and £15 to £17 for double membership. We will start the process of collecting from next month with the details in the June newsletter.
