Civic Voice is the national charity for the Civic Society Movement in England. The President of Civic Voice is Griff Rhys Jones. They make places more attractive, enjoyable and distinctive. As a result they promote civic pride. Civic Voice is a new ‘umbrella’ body for local amenity societies, and replaces the Civic Trust, which went into administration in 2008. Addingham Civic Society is a member of Civic Voice. We pay a capitation fee of £1.50 per member, which gives Addingham Civic Society access to Civic Voice’s regular newsletters and advice service. Civic Voice is in a position to negotiate with Government departments over environmental issues, and the more societies which join, the greater its influence is likely to be. Addingham Civic Society members are currently eligible to apply for a free single visit pass to most National Trust properties. Members of Addingham Civic Society should contact the Hon. Secretary for more details. If you are a member of the National Trust, you can still apply and give the pass to a friend.
